Starting 2018

I know just about everyone starts every new year with plans to eat more healthily, to diet, to exercise more, to be kinder to animals, to help old ladies across the road and so on.  Which makes my thoughts about how I want to live my life in 2018 not unusual in the slightest.  What is, perhaps, more unusual is that I plan to document how I get on and share how I feel about my progress.

I am somewhat tubbier than I should be and my aim for this year to attempt to address this.  I’m not great at traditional diets – for some reason there seems to be lots of things in them I don’t like, an emphasis on chilli for example – so I thought the approach to take would be more that of a change in eating habits.  It seems to me that aiming to eat more food which is good for you and packed full of nutrition and eating less of the unhealthy food would be a good start.

Given that there are still Christmas chocolates left in the house (you can’t give away such lovely gifts you’ve received, can you?), abstention from all nice things is most certainly not the way forward. Moderation, yes, coupled with home made healthy food should help me to shed some pounds.  This will be a gradual process, which is of course the best way to lose weight, according to the professionals out there, so I think I’m in with a chance.  Just need to keep the stress levels down as being stressed does make me want to eat bread and other carbohydrates.
